Non-native Northern crayfish are common in lower Granite Creek, having been introduced into the wild by way of escape or release from bait buckets or discarded by aquarium enthusiasts. With few natural agents to control them, the crayfish population in Arizona has exploded, with detrimental effects on native aquatic ecosystems.
