Ron Bell

Stormwater Quality Program Coordinator |
Yavapai County Flood Control District
Born in Ohio, Ron Bell was raised in Oregon City, Oregon. He attended Oregon State University and Portland State University majoring in engineering and transportation design. After leaving college he enlisted in the United States Air Force, being stationed in Alaska, Hawaii and Guam for four years during the Vietnam Conflict. Duties in the Air Force included surveying for runway and heliport construction. Ron's professional career includes many positions with private civil engineering firms as well as in the public sector in Oregon, Arizona, Nevada, Washington, Texas, and Colorado. Ron has been in Prescott for 10 years, working with Yavapai County Flood Control District for 7 years. As the Stormwater Quality Program Coordinator for Yavapai County, Ron is responsible for all of the County's requirements of the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System. Ron is also responsible for the implementation of the EPA and ADEQ regulatory requirements of the Clean Water Act as well as the compliance measures under the MS4, Phase II permit. Under his lead, the County recently implemented a stormwater quality Best Management Practice demonstration project at Pioneer Park in Prescott. This project will remove pollutants from stormwater before it discharges into Granite Creek, as well as recharge the aquifer. In his free time, Ron enjoys fly fishing, ice and rock climbing, mountain biking, and canoeing with his wife Doris.
